It was named Oriental Beauty by Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. As it is made from tender buds and leaves and is rich in amino acids, the tea soup tastes sweet and smooth. Due to the heavy fermentation process, over half of the catechins are oxidized, making it neither bitter nor astringent. High-quality Baihao Oolong should have a distinct natural ripe fruit aroma and a honey-like taste. When sipped, a refreshing and sweet fragrance immediately lingers on the cheeks. The ones with a large amount of white downy tips are considered the best. When the tea soup cools slightly, adding a drop of brandy or other rich wine can make the tea flavor more mellow. Therefore, it is also known as Champagne Oolong.
