2005 Lao Ban Zhang Ripe Pu'er: A Timeless Elixir of Aged Elegance

**Origin: The Pristine Cradle of Tea Royalty**
Hailing from the legendary **Lao Ban Zhang Village** in Bulang Mountain (布朗山), Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, this 2005 ripe Pu'er is nurtured by nature’s unparalleled generosity. Nestled at elevations ranging from 1,600 to 1,900 meters, the region boasts nutrient-rich organic soil, abundant sunlight, dense mist, and high humidity—an ecosystem uniquely suited for cultivating ancient tea trees. This remote, pollution-free terrain, far from urbanization, endows the tea with an unadulterated, earthy essence that reflects the harmony between nature and tradition.

**Tree Variety: Legacy of Ancient Giants**
The 2005 Lao Ban Zhang ripe Pu'er is crafted from the leaves of **Yunnan big-leaf ancient tea trees** (云南大叶种古树茶), a revered species celebrated for its robust flavor and rich biochemical profile. These century-old trees, deeply rooted in Bulang Mountain’s fertile soil, absorb hundreds years of natural vitality, yielding leaves with thick textures, prominent trichomes, and concentrated aromatic compounds. Their resilience and slow growth ensure the tea retains a distinctive "mountain charm" (山野气韵), a hallmark of premium Lao Ban Zhang tea.

**Craftsmanship: A Tribute to Ancient Wisdom**
The creation of this tea is a labor of reverence, adhering to **36 traditional artisanal processes** passed down through generations. Selected high-quality fresh leaves undergo meticulous withering, rolling, and fermentation—with the critical "pile fermentation" (渥堆) step transforming raw tea into ripe Pu'er through controlled microbial activity. Master tea makers oversee each stage by hand, ensuring optimal temperature, humidity, and turning cycles to develop depth and complexity. This time-honored method, free from chemicals or modern shortcuts, preserves the tea’s purity, resulting in a cake with a moderately tight, round shape and thick, lustrous条索 (cords).

 **Healthful Benefits: Nourishment Through Time**
Beyond its sensory allure, aged ripe Pu'er like the 2005 Lao Ban Zhang offers holistic wellness benefits. Its natural, organic origins—grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides—align with a pure, ecological lifestyle[^6]. Rich in antioxidants and probiotics from prolonged fermentation, it aids digestion, soothes the stomach, and promotes metabolic balance, embodying the wisdom of "drinking tea as medicine".

**A Sensory Feast: The Aged Pu'er Experience**
After nearly two decades of aging, the 2005 Lao Ban Zhang ripe Pu'er unveils a symphony of flavors:
- **Appearance**: A well-formed cake with moderately tight compression, its条索 (cords) are thick, sprouting with golden tips, and exhibit a deep,润泽 (moist) hue[^1][^4].
- **Liquor**: A radiant amber-red, clear and luminous, reflecting years of gentle maturation[^4].
- **Aroma**: Dominated by **pronounced aged fragrance** (陈香), layered with hints of earth, dried fruit, and subtle woodiness—a testament to time’s transformative power[^3][^4].
- **Taste**: Velvety and full-bodied, with a **mellow,醇厚 (rich) palate** that unfolds into lingering sweetness (回甘) and quick生津 (salivation). The broth is smooth as silk, with a "domineering" depth that softens into warmth, leaving a refreshing, honeyed finish even after 13+ infusions.

 **Conclusion**
The 2005 Lao Ban Zhang ripe Pu'er is more than tea—it is a living legacy. From Bulang Mountain’s mist-shrouded peaks to the hands of master craftsmen, every element converges to create a masterpiece that honors tradition while delighting the senses. For connoisseurs, it is not merely a beverage but a journey through time, where each sip whispers the stories of ancient trees, artisanal devotion, and the quiet magic of aging.

*"In every cup, taste the essence of Yunnan’s soul—aged to perfection, crafted for eternity."*

For ripe Pu'er tea aged over 20 years, we do not recommend brewing with a gaiwan; instead, it is suggested to use a thermos flask or a high-quality purple clay teapot. After rinsing 5 grams of tea leaves once or twice ,then place them in a thermal mug, and brew directly with boiling water for more than half an hour before drinking for the best experience. It can be brewed continuously for two to three pots.

  • We don't accept return

Tea should not be returned mainly for the following reasons:

    茶叶不宜退货主要有以下几方面原因:
    1. **卫生问题**:茶叶是直接入口的饮品,一旦开封,就可能受到外界环境、人体接触等因素污染,比如手上的细菌可能会沾染到茶叶上。为了保障其他消费者的健康安全,商家通常不接受已开封茶叶的退货。英文:Hygiene issues: Tea is a drink that goes directly into the mouth. Once opened, it may be contaminated by external environment, human contact and other factors. For example, bacteria on hands may contaminate the tea leaves. To ensure the health and safety of other consumers, merchants usually do not accept the return of opened tea.
Quality is prone to change: The quality of tea has high requirements for storage conditions. If not stored properly after opening, it is very likely to get damp, deteriorate, or absorb other odors. For example, in a humid environment, tea may become moldy and its aroma may dissipate. After the return, it is difficult for merchants to determine whether the quality change of the tea existed before opening or was caused by improper storage by consumers after opening. Therefore, returns are generally not accepted.
    3. **难以二次销售**:消费者开封后的茶叶,其包装完整性被破坏,外观可能不再符合新品标准,而且消费者对茶叶的评价也会影响其二次销售。商家考虑到这些因素,为避免经济损失,通常不接受退货。英文:Difficult to resell: After the tea is opened by consumers, the integrity of its packaging is damaged, and its appearance may no longer meet the standards of new products. Moreover, consumers' evaluations of the tea will also affect its resale. Considering these factors, merchants usually do not accept returns to avoid economic losses.
